Every swatch uses an explicit six-digit sRGB HEX value. Its on-screen fill and saved PNG use that same value. Color names such as Peach or Ivory are descriptive labels, not standardized definitions. Each season offers 34 palette colors (136 total), curated examples, not certified seasonal reference charts.

Your photo, in its own light.

Photos are converted by the browser to sRGB and resized to a maximum of 1,400 pixels before sampling. Automatic samples use selected face, hair and iris regions; manual samples use a small area around your tap. Both choose a representative opaque pixel from the processed image. These are image colors, not calibrated measurements of your skin.

Lighting, camera processing, makeup and reflections can change the samples. Screens and real fabrics can look different, even with the same intended color. There is no automatic correction for an unknown light source or camera profile.

One suggested seasonal palette.

The app compares the three sampled image colors with the original eight reference swatches in each of our four curated palettes. The full result includes 34 illustrative colors per season; extending that collection does not change the reference swatches or an existing suggestion. It converts each color to CIELAB relative to D65, finds the nearest swatch in each palette using ΔE76, and averages the three distances with equal weights. The palette with the smallest average is shown as one suggested season. Exact ties use the stable order Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter.

This measures color resemblance, not which clothing flatters a person. It does not measure undertone or establish your personal season. Natural browns may favor the Autumn examples; changing the curated swatches can change the result. There is no validated accuracy percentage for this recommendation. Compare fabrics near your face in consistent daylight before making styling decisions.

Jewelry, as a styling choice.

The jewelry edit follows traditional warm/cool seasonal styling: warm metals for Spring and Autumn, cool metals for Summer and Winter. Finish suggestions reflect the palettes’ clear or muted character. Metals, pearls and gemstones are curated to follow each suggested palette’s warmth and clarity. Pearl colors and warm rose-gold options are editorial tone pairings within this broad four-season guide, informed by the more detailed seasonal references below. Alloy, pearl and gemstone colors and finishes vary. These are styling ideas to compare in daylight, not measurements of which accessory suits an individual.

The jewelry images are AI-generated jewelry illustrations, created with OpenAI image generation. They do not depict products for sale or provide calibrated references for material color, authenticity, quality or finish.

Keeping your current session.

The current photo, selected colors and result are kept in this browser tab’s local storage so a refresh or a visit to the season guide can restore them. This draft is separate for each site address and browser tab; it is not uploaded. Start over or Next guest clears this draft, without deleting photos already saved to disk. Example mode replaces the current draft. Clearing browser data removes browser drafts.

Local photo saving.

In the local studio, each captured or uploaded photo is saved as a PNG in the operator’s chosen local folder. The saved photo is the sRGB analysis image, resized to a maximum of 1,400 pixels. Saving runs quietly in the background. Only a failed save shows an error and a retry option. Taking another photo creates another file. The example does not save a photo. Let guests know their photo will be retained before taking it.

The public website does not upload photos to a server. Automatic folder saving requires the local studio running on the operator’s computer. The public site offers a manual photo download instead. Clearing the screen does not delete previously saved files.

What has been checked.

All 136 palette values and 4,352 additional reference colors passed a numerical comparison with Color.js 0.7.1 for full CIELAB values relative to D65. The result grid and the saved PNG both use the same 34-color data for the selected season. Transparent pixels are excluded from sampling. These checks verify digital calculations; they do not validate face-region detection or real-world skin color accuracy.
